Everyone knows the stories of Nessie or Sasquatch, and some of you are familiar with El Chupacubra, the goat sucker, but how many of you know about the Dropa Disks or Flying Rods?
Doing a little research for my Phenomenal series I came across a host of strange, unusual and simply bizarre phenomena that science has a hard time explaining or debunking, often dismissing them as hallucinations or urban myths. Some of these observations and sightings are well documented by credible witnesses, scientists among them. Your job is to match the aberrations in the list to the summaries provided.
Foo Fighters (0), Dropa Disks (1), Ringing Rocks (2), Angel Hair (3), Dancing Rocks (4), Red Rain (5), Star Jelly (6), Horned Skulls (7), Sky Serpent (8), Flying Rods (9).
A 716 of these were recovered, ranging in size from several inches to several feet. One of these contained a continuous line of nearly microscopic hieroglyphics that translated describes our planets first encounters with an alien civilization.
B Professor Russel Graves described one occurrence of this as a "buff-colored, pulpy substance". Upon exposure to the air the substance became a "livid color, resembling venous blood".
C These critters are known to travel along a dry lake bed leaving curious winding trails behind them which mark their gradual passing.
D These guys are so fast the naked eye has a hard time spotting them, but they have turned up in still photographs and freeze frames in video footage all over the world.
E In October of 1881, some of these were reported along Lake Michigan from Green bay to Milwaukee, some of them reportedly 60 feet long. They seemed to float inland from Lake Michigan, some very thick and extending as high upward as the eye could see.
F Though this is more than likely a natural phenomenon, there has never been a satisfactory explanation proposed for these. I have seen one myself while out caching.
G It was estimated that these were buried around A.D. 1200. Discovered by a reputable group of antiquarians, they were sent to the American Investigating Museum in Philadelphia, but like so many finds that question hard science, they were stolen and never seen again.
H These foreign bodies are seen by some physicists as a case for cometary panspermia. Panspermia is the hypothesis that "seeds" of life exist already all over the universe, and life on earth originated from those "seeds".
I One report of this phenomena by a Royal Australian Air Force plane patrolling off the Tasman Peninsula was described as "a singular airfoil of glistening bronze color, about 150 feet in length and 50 feet in diameter... It paced the plane for a few minutes, then turned away 'at a hell of a pace', turned again and dived into the ocean."
J Known by many other names, this aberration is so old that it is part of many ancient civilization's folklore and has been sighted in Texas, Kansas and South Carolina and as far away as Brazil and Scandinavia.
