Geocache Description:

Back in the sands of time (2001 to be precise), Geocaching had just started. A few brave pioneers set and placed a few caches during this first year, some of which have survived the eons........

The cache IS at the the posted coordinates but in order to log this cache you must have found at least 80% of the surviving caches placed in 2001 or earlier. [We started out with 34. As of 5/19/2024, there are only 26. So you need to find at least 21 of them.] A public Bookmark List is the preferred method for confirmation.

An ancient and moldy map showing the location of the geocaches placed by the end of 2001 in North Carolina.

The listed difficulty is for the work needed to find 21 caches across western North Carolina. I would rate this cache in isolation as about a 2/2.5. The cache is located about 50 feet off of Forest Service Road 5055 (Slate Rock Road). It is about a half-mile round-trip walk. You are looking for a small, cylindrical Tupperware-ish container.

Don't forget that in order to log this cache as a "Find" you must have found 80% of the remaining active NC caches placed in 2001 or earlier. And also don't forget to make your bookmark list public and shared. Enjoy!

Thanks to Maingray for the idea behind these caches, and for doing just about everything except hiding the cache!!
