Geocache Description:

A micro hidden in Louisville, Ky.

Ford Motor Company has had continuous operations in
Louisville since 1913. This is the third cache in a series at or near past and present Ford plants.

If you find all five of the Henry and Louis caches, you are eligible to find the Bonus Cache!

The Reynolds Building at the corner of Eastern Parkway and 3rd Street is not appropriately named as the place was actually built by Ford in 1915 to manufacture Model T's. Detroit architect Albert Kahn designed it. Early auto plants were dirty, cramped, dark and inefficient; Kahn’s design took into account what the workers did and where their materials should be placed to speed the workflow. The building is made of reinforced concrete in a method known as flat-slab construction, covered in bricks and has horizontal lines and an irregular shape. Brick work and terra cotta decorate its surface. It has been called a textbook example of early industrial architecture. In 1924, Ford moved its operations to Southwestern Parkway.

In 1940 Ford sold the building to Reynolds Metals. They used the building to make aluminum airplane parts during World War II and later converted it to a national sales office. Several rounds of remodeling included the addition of aluminum windows and awnings and installation of new elevators with aluminum doors embossed with the Reynolds corporate logo. Most of the original entrances on the east side are filled in with glass block.

In 1958 Reynolds moved its sales headquarters from Louisville to Richmond, Va., and gave the building to the University of Louisville..

As for the cache, you are looking for a slightly-larger-than-normal bison tube. Please return the container exactly as you found it. Stealth is a must due to the high number of muggles in the area. There is a train track nearby but, by no means, approach it as the cache is NOT near it.

A special thanks goes to Show Me The Cache who freed up the space for this cache.
