Geocache Description:

The container is a 30 caliber ammo box. Use the parking coordinates! Trees will make your GPSr go googleywonk. The distance between the main trail and the cache is 40' (using an industrial tape measure, not my GPSr).

I am typically not a fan of creating caches just so that they qualify for a challenge, but I am going over to the dark side just for this one cache. Below are a bunch of challenges that this cache will qualify for, however do not take my word for anything. The cache owner is ALWAYS the final word on if and how a cache qualifies for a challenge.

  • GC1D80J - ABC Challenge
Find 26 caches, the names of which begin with each letter of the alphabet. X seems to be the rarest letter, so that's what this cache starts with.
  • GC1NBFV - Cache the Rainbow Challenge
Find 25 caches with the name of a color in the title. Chartreuse is the color precisely halfway between green and yellow (it's 50% green and 50% yellow). There aren't any caches outside of France with this in their name.
  • GC19WNJ - The Critter Cache
Find 25 caches with the name of a critter in the title. A xeme is an arctic fork-tailed gull (Xema Sabinii). There aren't any caches in the world with this word in their name and there aren't any in the United States with this as part of a longer word.
  • GC2199J - The Animal Alphabet
Find 26 caches with the name of an animal somewhere in the title, each beginning with a different letter of the alphabet. This is sort of a cross between "the Critter Cache" and the "ABC Cache". Again, Xeme qualifies for this cache.
  • GCR9XY - Counting Counties in Oregon
Find a cache in each county in Oregon. This one is in Washington county.
  • GCQKKE - Oregon DeLorme Challenge
Find a cache in each of the sections of the Oregon DeLorme book. This one is in section 60 (using my ancient 1996 edition of the atlas).
  • GC19RXB - The Portland "Thomas Map" Challenge
Find a cache in each page of the Portland Thomas Guide. This one is on page 685L of the 2008 edition of the guide.
  • GC1PA00 - Walk the Walk -- The OREGON Anti-Micro Challenge
Find 20 straight non-micro or unknown size caches before finding the final. This is a regular, so it qualifies.
  • GC18RVM - Oregon's "Well Rounded Cacher" aka Oregon's Fizzy
Find at least one of each Difficulty/Terrain combination. This cache will qualify for your 3.0/3.0 cell. Any traditional cache qualifies for something, but the higher the rating, the more precious it is going to be. This is in a cell that is empty for many people, but is not so hard that it will be unreasonable for someone to get who only cares about one of the easier challenges, such as the ABC Challenge.
