Geocache Description:

Welcome to the first placement for Team GeoQuest. This is one of our favorite trails in the Valley area. There are some excellent views, it provides a reasonable challenge, and it’s close to home. The hike is about 3 ½ miles round trip from where we normally park. Look for “31” and you will find our normal parking spot. The hike could probably be shorter and could definitely be longer depending on where you park.

When you get close to the cache coordinates, look for a primitive “switch-back” trail. Bushwhacking for this cache will be dangerous to you and dangerous to the environment. There is no need, so please don’t do it. The primitive trail will take you where you want to go. If you find yourself on the Stairway to Heaven, you chose the wrong trail. Enjoy the view but go back and try again. The cache is well covered. Please make sure it is well covered when you leave. We do not know how popular this spot is. Rocks are loose at the very top so be careful.

The theme of this cache is Give and Take. Among other things, there were six envelopes placed in the cache (3 Give and 3 Take.) The 3 Take envelopes each have a gift certificate valued at either $7, $10, or $15. Please leave something of approximate value if you choose one of these envelopes. The 3 Give envelopes each have included inside a self-addressed envelope to Team GeoQuest. Please donate $25 to your favorite charity if you choose one of these and send the charity name and address to Team GeoQuest. We will gladly match your donation. There are plenty of other cache goodies in the box for kids, pets, and adults. The charity idea was borrowed from AZMark’s "Hundred Dollar Cache," an excellent hike if you haven’t done it.

Please heed our Number 1 Rule, "You can NEVER bring too much water when hiking in the Sonoran Desert." Enjoy the hike! Happy Trails!
