Reaching the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America requires years of dedication and hard work. Over its first 100 years, Scouting has provided millions of hours of service to communities across America.
Danny V. of Troop 297 worked with the Hoffman Estates Park District to complete a Bioswale along the southern portion of this park. The bioswale cleans the water run off from the parking lot storm drain using rock fields to slow the flow of run off to encourage settlement of solids and aeration of the water. Fabric filters and wetland plants remove the contaminants while oxygenating and adding nutrients to the water before it enters the park's pond. The project was completed in July, 2008.
Permission has been granted by the Hoffman Estates Park District for this cache.
Special thanks goes out to Geocacher Bandre (who also happens to be an Eagle Scout), for archiving his Fountain View cache so this hide could be placed to honor the work of Danny and the Scouting movement.
