The Singing Bridge links Tea Gardens and Hawks Nest. The bridge is so named as a strong SW wind 'sings' as it passes through the railings.
The bridge was built in 1974. Prior to the bridge being built a punt was operated from 1928. The remains of the punt are still visible and the Hawks Nest side provides a great spot for fishing, just be careful when the tide is low as the ramp is very slippery if you are wearing thongs and the oyster shells are very sharp (Mrs Chippyroo has learnt this the hard way!)
If you are walking over the bridge from the Tea Gardens' side, be careful when walking under the light posts if the pelicans are resting up there!
Keep an eye out for the dolphins, they are often seen frolicking under the bridge. At low tide, the exposed sandbank is a favourite resting spot of the pelicans.
I recommend parking on the Hawks Nest side of the bridge. PLEASE DO NOT STOP ON KINGFISHER AVE - this is a no standing zone at anytime!
There is a park nearby with toilets, BBQ's and play equipment. Great fishing from the jetty, the punt or even from under the bridge itself.
The bridge does throw out the GPS. But where is the most obvious spot to hide a cache???
The cache is an M&Ms tube wrapped in black tape. A bit of stealth maybe required as lots of muggles use the bike/footpath and there maybe muggles fishing at GZ. Hence the difficulty rating of 2.5.
