How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

Round camo-taped container. Please make sure the lid is on tight.
Watch out for teenaged muggles who frequent the area at lunch time and after school.
Don't step on any flowers.

Bring the kids, take a walk around the lake and feed the swans.

But: “Please don’t feed us your old bread. Give us corn and greens instead!”

Apparently, bread is not very healthy for the birds. Instead, you can feed them spinach, romaine lettuce or corn.

Feel free to contact us if you want to know where you can pick up swan food.

If you head east from here, there is a walking path all along the river and you are sure to come upon the swans. (You won't see any swans until they leave their winter quarters in the Spring.)

STRATFORD'S SWANS:
The white swans are called MUTE SWANS, however they are far from silent.
The black swans are called BLACK SWANS (Wow! Fancy that!)and are native to Australia.

There are two types of MUTE SWANS and are distinguised by the colour of their legs.
1. The black-legged swans are ROYALS and come from Great Britain.
2. The beige-legged swans are called POLISH swans and they are from Eurasia.

The female swan is called a PEN.
The male swan is called a COB.
The baby swans are CYGNETS.
A cob will be slightly larger than a pen, and his bill will be a brighter orange and the knob at the base of the bill will be larger.
A group of swans is called a HERD.
Swans can live to an age of 40 and can weigh up to 30 pounds.
