{{cue deep voice over a background of ominous thunder, it’s a dark and stormy night}}
Legend speaks of a time when a race of devil people roamed the Blue Mountains. They were an eldritch race, now barely remembered. Capable of entering the imagination, they were known to strain the bodies of their victims in sleepless passion, and tear their throats by the cries of their soulful longing.
Sacrifices were made to placate these demon spirits. Brave souls entered the dark places of the world to find the wellspring of their torment. Yet in time the devil people faded with the bright quietude of suburban encroachment. The minds of the many were invaded by new dreams, small, suburban and tame, and their souls were tame, and their streets were tame and their hopes were small, and everything they sought withered and grew smaller.
But one of the old race remains. She is the Devil Woman of local legend, the fleeting shadow at the penumbra of respectability and desire. She is the teasing thought at the periphery of your mind: that which you desire yet dare not seek; close to everything safe at the heart of Blaxland, yet tempting and full of risk and inspiration, and possessing a lair of allurement and entrapment.
If your dreams are of unfulfilled adventure, of loss, and the need to find a decent sized ammo can once again, the Devil Woman has called and your soul has answered.
The track to get to the lair of the Devil Woman starts at the back of the car park for Blaxland Library. The coordinates for the start of the track are listed as a waypoint. The track should be easy to follow, but you might find turning on the trackback function of your GPSr useful. As you get close to the lair, you will need to leave the track, cross the creek and bush bash to GZ. This is not a cache to look for at night or in bad weather.
You have been warned.
