Welcome to the Marietta Geocaching
Challenge. This challenge is set up to take you to a few of the
Marietta Parks and Historic sites. The challenge is to find all 10
caches within the Parks and or Historic sites. In each cache there
will be a Marietta trading card. Collect all 10 cards and bring
them to the Parks and Recreation Department inside City Hall.
(Please only one card per geo nick.) You can also show your cards
at The Marietta Trolley Co. When you show all of your trading cards
you will receive a grab bag of prizes.
This is the multi cache for the challenge. This multi will take
you for a little walk around Marietta and have you read a few signs
and learn a little about Marietta and its History. The coordinates
above will take you to stage 1. The final coordinates for the cache
is:

Stage 1. You find yourself in front of a Historic sign.
On this sign you can find the answers to A and B.
A= “Created December 3, 18_ _ “ Add the last two
number together .
B= What is the last number in the “Marker Number”
(The marker number is the number on the bottom left hand side of
the sign.)
Stage 2. (N 33° 57.163 W 084° 32.992) You will find
yourself in front of Mr. Clay. Here you will find the answer to
C.
C= Find the year that Mr. Clay was born. Now add the first two
numbers together. Now take that number and subtract the third
number. Then take that number and subtract the last number.
Stage 3. (N 33° 57.163 W 084° 33.066) You will find
yourself in front of some Historic signs. There are three signs
here. You will have to read all the signs to find your answers to D
and E.
D= The third number in the year that Dix Flethcher purchased the
cotton warehouse from John H Glover.
E= How many miles North is the Big Shanty on the W&A.
Stage 4. (N 33° 57.185 W 084° 33.082) Once again you find
yourself in front of a sign. Read the sign and you will find the
answer to F.
F= On the header of the sign. How many O’s are there in
the fourth word?
Stage 5. (N 33° 57.178 W 084° 33.042) On this sign you
will find the answers to G and H.
G= What is the third number in the year this man was born?
H= What is the second number of the year this man was “
Key Citizen of the Year”?
Stage 6. (N 33° 57.200 W 084° 32.953) Now you find
yourself in front of a well known building in Marietta. Here you
can find the answer to I and J.
I= On top of the building. How many letters are in the third
word?
J= Look down and find the brick that tells you what year ARCADIS
was established. Subtract that year from 1953.

inside of Marietta City Hall at 205 Lawrence Street Marietta, Ga.
30060 or for the real cacher City Hall is located at N 33° 57.208 W
084° 32.796. City Hall is open from 8AM to 5PM Monday thru
Friday.
