Geocache Description:

Church Micro 2034...Chalgrave

This cache has been placed to bring you to the Church of All Saints, Chalgrave.

The cache is a tube of similar diameter to a film pot, only longer. It only contains a log - you are a geocacher, you should have a writing implement!

Please note that the final cache is located outside the churchyard and is NOT accessible from inside the churchyard. You will need to exit the churchyard from the main gate, please do not be tempted to follow your GPS in any other direction. Some of the clues will be found inside the churchyard, while others are outside.

There are 12th-century records of a church in Chalgreave belonging to the Loring family. Manorial churches were sited close to the manor house, which is why the church stands here , far from the villages it now serves. The Lorings gave the original church and land to support it to Dunstable Priory, which dedicated a new church in 1219. Improvements and additions continued through the medieval period; oday the oldest parts of All Saints date from the early 13th century.

Please take time to explore the peace and tranquility, but please be respectful in the church and its grounds.

To find the location of the final cache, you will first need to find the interpretation board in the car park. In it's bottom right hand corner it has four words and a phone number. The phone number is 01525 87ABCD.

The bench in memory of John Molyneaux (he was Mayor of Dunstable from 1976 to 1977), and Lilian, his wife, has been replaced. So, instead, head to the porch. The gates were given in memory of Margery Kate Costin and Bryan Costin in August JKLM

Finally, find the memorial to those who gave their lives in the Great War. It includes a bible passage. My research tells me this is from Revelation 2 Verse 10, however the inscription says Verse G.

The final cache can be found at N 51° 5(A+2).BAD W 000° 3J.K(G/(B+L+M))C

If anybody would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication
