Geocache Description:

Nice flat walk, good views of the local area including the M4! Watch out for the few vehicles that use the road.

During WWII this road was known as Tent City, the location of the quarters of American personnel from the nearby Membury air field. 500 pyramid tents and some nissen huts occupied the site then and it must have been a cold and uncomfortable place during the hard winters. More details can be found in Roger Day's book Membury at War. Today there is no trace, and the road is a peaceful level walk.
