Mega Scotland 2014

Spring, summer, autumn and winter the beauty of Eglinton Country Park is on your doorstep. Eglinton Country Park gives you the space and freedom to enjoy a wide range of pursuits.

There are tranquil country pursuits, walking, horse riding, fishing on the lochside or simply watching the world go by. Or there's a full programme of organized events run by our Countryside Rangers right through the year.
Eglinton Country Park is situated within the historic boroughs of Kilwinning and Irvine and was developed around the ancient Eglinton Estate, home for 600 years to the Earls of Eglinton and Winton. Eglinton Country Park is situated in the grounds of the old Eglinton Castle estate, just north of Irvine. The park covers 400 hectares, of parkland and farmland in the middle of Irvine new town.
Eglinton Country Park has lots to offer for all ages and abilities. A large play area designed for use by adults, adolescents and younger children. The area includes equipment designed specifically for the disabled.


An extensive array of woodland and open countryside walks will take you through the park taking in the old ruins of the estate, castle and the loch, with lots of places for the family to enjoy a picnic.
A visitor centre has all the information on the parks history. There is also the Tournament Cafe for some refreshments, if you do not bring your own picnic.

For the wildlife spotter, the array of wildlife is immense with lots of birds both resident and migratory. Roe deer roam the park and can be seen if you are quiet, amongst the many woodland walks. There are far to many mammals and forna to mention, just go for a walk and see what you can spot.
