Geocache Description:

Prestatyn Castle then now.

This has to be one of the flattest castles in Wales if not the world!
Yet it really is the remains of a motte and bailey castle. Not only is it almost flat, but it only had a short lifetime of ten years.

It was built by King Henry II in 1157 .


The Welsh Prince Owain Gwynedd
razed the castle to the ground in around 1167. Sad story. But you can still see clear evidence of its existence.
