A CITO event at The Tumps, Bristol

Sunday 2nd June 2013 (10am to 1pm)

This is just one of the many events being held across the UK, Ireland and Channel Islands as part of the GAGB 10th anniversary weekend celebrations.

The event will run from 10am (a short briefing) to 1pm when we will have a group photograph at the starting coordinates followed by this picnic event (weather permitting). There is free parking in the side roads and in a nearby Long Stay car park. The Tumps is an area of land that was created from soil removed to create the railway tunnel. This area is just down the road from Cribbs Causeway.

Please ensure that you sign the logbook before starting so that we know how many volunteers are present.

There will be a supply of rubbish sacks available and South Gloucestershire Council will be collecting the rubbish afterwards. There will be some loan litter picks available but if you have your own then please bring them along. Please bring gardening type gloves with you.

If you find large or hazardous waste then please record the coords and a description, and let us know so that the Council can arrange collection.

General Advice:

  • Do not work alone and keep a first aid kit handy (there will be a first aid kit provided).
  • Always wear gloves and use litter pickers.
  • Do not lift anything heavy without help.
  • Use the right tool for the job.
  • Keep the work area tidy and safe.
  • If you do not like the look of it, do not touch it!

Please note: If you take part in this activity, you do so at entirely your own risk, South Gloucestershire Council, Patchway Town Council and the GAGB will not be held responsible for any accidents or injuries.

Bring along a picnic and join us all for lunch and a chat afterwards - plenty of space for picnic blankets & chairs. There is also a BMX track next door for any enthusiasts!
