This is one of six frog brothers that lives in the Austin, TX area. Emerald Frog is one of the four smaller-sized brothers. Emerald Frog loves climbing high places above water to get a scenic view, then to do cannonball dives into the water below. If you're sneaky enough, sometimes late at night you can catch Emerald Frog in action, cannonballing into the Colorado River and making a splash so huge that it rains in downtown Austin!! Emerald Frog is just that awesome!
Sometimes you can see Emerald Frog's friend Black Cow ("Mr. Pookles") grazing in the small field across the river from Emerald Frog's location.
You can park in the nearby neighborhood on the NE side of the Pennybacker Bridge (see the Parking Waypoint listed for this cache). People regularly tend to park at the base of the trailhead...just off the shoulder of the 360 on the NW side of the bridge. There are plenty of "No Parking on R.O.W." signs, flanked by "No Parking" signs. I'm not sure what the signs mean, but it might be okay to park there. Parking in front of the "No Parking on R.O.W." signs might just mean to not block the highway's shoulder. But who ever knows with these things?
FUN FROG FACTS (from www.kidzone.ws): Frog’s tongues are attached to the front of their mouths rather than at the back like humans. When a frog catches an insect it throws its sticky tongue out of its mouth and wraps it around its prey. The frog’s tongue then snaps back and throws the food down its throat.
