This is the third in a series of caches based upon the childrens story 'The Gruffalo'. About a 1 and 1/2mile circular walk on a well walked path. Not suitable for buggies, wear wellies if wet. This cache is where this animal lives and is an owl!! This is our regular dog walk and we have spent many happy hours in these woods. Enjoy and happy caching.
The red sandstone slopes of this area are home to several woods, Coed Y Wenallt is one. It is a 44 hectare area of designated ancient woodland which is also an SSSI. There is a great variety of bird and other wildlife. You could consider yourself unlucky if you didn't hear a Great Spotted Woodpecker, particularly in springtime when the sea of bluebells provides a visual treat. Permission has been kindly granted for this trail of geocaches from Cardiff Council and Natural Resources Wales.
