This series of 12 caches takes you on a figure 8 five mile trip on little used paths centring on Under Pendle Farm. There is hardly any ascent/descent but don’t think it’s an easy walk as there may well be lots of bog and sometimes the path vanishes altogether.
First thank you to Lancashire CC and Pendle BC for permission to lay the caches and for their support for walkers and cachers generally – any new / repaired gates and stiles have been done by PBC just for you! If you notice any faulty ones let me know with full gps reference and I’ll see what I can get done. All were satisfactory when I laid the caches.
It would be handy to have Explorer Map OL21 (South Pennines) with you but a description of how to get to each cache from the previous one is included in the description. It is recommended that you do them in order because going to the next closest may well result in your getting hopelessly disorientated. DOGS are allowed but, as freqent notices state, must be kept on a lead as this is lambing territory.
The caches are frequently double boxed in an effort to keep out the damp – please replace carefully. Those that aren’t (and some of those that are) use Rite in the Rain paper for similar reasons. If they fail there’s little anyone can do about it. You may need TWEEZERS - not just for the micros but also the small box caches as the inside box is a micro.
Park in Barley’s large car park (£1 honesty box) and make your way through the village to join the main path up Pendle on the left after the pub and café. Over a bridge and the signpost points you on. Instead go left to the far corner of the field and follow your arrow to this cache near an old farm building.
