After the movie style start to the MMCC series we now turn our attention to printed media such as newspapers, magazines and pamphlets. Before the easy modern forms of digital news communication via internet and smart phones, one of the most common methods worldwide was the trusted newspaper. The first newspapers in the UK were nearly 400 years ago, and even the daily papers have been around for over 300 years. Whilst the format has changed over the decades from traditional broadsheets to smaller papers, the look is still largely the same. The biggest change overall has been the introduction of photos which has bred a new world of paparazi news following celebrity lifestyles more than traditional news stories. This trait has been further highlighted in lifestyle magazines, but here we have a whole printed media ideal for a vast array of interests and hobbies. Many of the papers and magazines now appear online as well as in printed form but the familiar daily paper and weekly or fortnightly magazines are still sold in the millions.
This cache will give you something to read about if you have the time, but if you want a quick find and sign the cache log then that's fine. Very close to GZ is a great view over the area with Poolsbrook lake stretching out down below you (and MMCC cache vi too). Why not take a moment to take in the view at the nearby bench. Be aware that getting to the cache unobserved may not be possible if there are others on the benches though. The cache has been placed at this location with the kind permission of the local council. Whilst the park is potentially always open on foot the car park does get locked around dusk.
It is located about 10 metres into the trees from an entry point about 15 metres down the slope. It is at ground level attached to a multi trunk tree (bush) tucked between the multiple trunks and covered up with loose twigs, accessible from behind. Please ensure this is covered up completely after finding it because a lot of people do go exploring into the trees and it would be discovered easily if not covered. Be careful of low branches or spikes as you are searching. The cache contains a pencil and journalistic logbook. Pullitzer prize for First To Find journalist in the field goes jointly to Toshack61 and CTWilson.
Don't forget to make a note of the additional clue in the cache which you'll need to find the bonus cache MMCC (viii). All 7 caches in the MMCC series are now released, along with the bonus, make sure to hunt for the others too if you plan to get the full set and the bonus cache (with souvenir). All the clue codes for the bonus are written or printed somewhere about the cache containers and are in the format of 'i = 1' or 'ii = 2' etc. (The real clues are not actually 1 and 2 though!).
