Geocache Description:

QUEEN'S WHARF MULTI

This is a fun short multi with different challenging stages all withing 400m around the starting point. It will take you around 20-30 mins to finish it, so don't think it twice and start the hunt. Btw, using googlemaps for the coordinates seems to be more accuarte to find the different stages.

BEFORE HAND

This is a complex multi as it has many physical stages with a high risk of been muggled. It is quite hard to keep all the stages working 100%, so therefore, I am going to provide a list of shortcuts in case any WP is missing. Please do not use them without being sure the WP is really not there.

For the step one, once you find the instructions and the tool (It is an empty tube with a magnet, nothing had to be inside), you may also need the instructions to find the WP2:. Follow this link for the picture of the instructions Link

If the WP2 is missing follow this link for the instructions Link

If the WP3 is missing or you can not retrieve it follow this link for the instructions Link

THE MULTI CACHE

This multi cache will show you the highlights of the Queen's wharf. You will have to solve some puzzles and interact with the wharf until you could claim this fun cache.
The initial instructions to complete the cache would be found at the indicated coordinates.
Have fun and happy hunting :)

For the FIRST STEP of this multi you DON'T have to crouch at all. The first clue is at Chest-Eye Level... And remember.... It is "wheelchairfriendly"!!!!!! I am sure you will enjoy this fun Multi!

QUEEN'S WHARF

Queens Wharf is deeply linked with the early history and development of Auckland city. Completed in 1913 the wharf played an important central role on the Auckland waterfront; for its function as a major place of arrival to, and departure from New Zealand; and as a place of formal welcome and farewell.

Auckland’s harbour has always been central to the economy and the coming and going of people. The area where Queens Wharf now stands was known as Commercial Bay and over the centuries has brought many different waka and ships into Auckland. It was also a popular food gathering spot for Maori prior to European arrival. In the 1850s the predecessor of today’s wharf was constructed at the foot of Queen Street. The 1400 foot timber wharf was important in a time when Auckland was establishing itself as an export port for wool, kauri gum and timber. This wharf survived until the early 1900s, when Auckland Harbour Board saw that improved port facilities were required for future growth.

In 1904 an ambitious plan for the improvement of the port was drawn up. It included further reclamation and a series of concrete finger wharves. The first of the proposed improvements was the new wharf at the foot of Queens Street. Construction of Queens Wharf began in 1907 and was completed by 1913.

Shed 10 is the only original building that remains on Queens Wharf from that period. Between 1909 and 1914 five such cargo sheds were built on the wharf. They were designed to fully integrate with transportation by rail, road and ship.

The wharf was purchased in 2009 for the people of Auckland by the New Zealand Government and the Auckland Regional Council. It is a place to fish, walk, admire the view and enjoy some of New Zealand’s best events. In June 2011 the Mayor of Auckland announced that Shed 10 would be refurbished to become Auckland’s primary cruise ship terminal and events venue.

The Cloud is a temporary structure on the western edge of Queens Wharf that was erected to accommodate a Fanzone during the Rugby World Cup in 2011, and it proved a very popular location to watch the games. The building was designed as a temporary structure to last up to 20 years.
The Maori name for New Zeland is Aotearoa, that means "the land of the long white cloud", therefore the shape of this singular building.
