We were looking at the International Geocaching Day/HQ Duck Dash Events in Colorado and noticed something unfortunate - there weren't any events scheduled in the Colorado Springs Area! I've been told that the easiest way to get an event somewhere that you would like to see one is to host your own - so here it is!
This event will be a 1 hour meetup, and will officially run from 2:00PM-3:00PM. It will be at Homestead Ranch Park, 16444 Gollihar Road. Feel free to show up at anytime within that hour to log the event!
August in Colorado tends to be hot and dry, so here is your reminder to bring water. Also, this is Colorado so you should be prepared for any type of weather!
The event will just be a basic Meet and Greet. There will be an area at the posted coordinates to discover, drop, or trade trackables (including participants in the HQ Duck Dash). There will also be a logbook to sign, and we will try to take a group photo at the end of the event at 3:00. Feel free to mingle, enjoy the trails, check out one of the many types of geocaches in the area, or even fish in the nearby pond (Valid Colorado Fishing License required). MikeAndJuli will definitely be swapping stories with everyone we meet!
HQ Duck Dash!
August 20th also marks the end of the 1 month HQ Duck Dash! This Trackable race set up by Geocaching HQ celebrates the 15th anniversary of geocaching trackables in a unique and fun way! The race started on July 20th, and the trackables are racing to finish at a geocaching event on August 20th (the day of this event!). If you picked up a Duck Dash Trackable, help it complete its journey by bringing it to an event on International Geocaching Day!
