After chasing down the last Ring Road Redback I decided to head up the track a little bit and explore some more. A little bit up the road from my last encounter I saw a shape that was starting to get a little more familiar to me, it was another one! Another Ring Road Redback but this one had a big head on it. I stayed away from him and headed towards the scrub, looking for another place to stash a cache. I noticed a nice little log and got out a sample tube from my geocaching bag thinking that one of the holes should hold it nicely. I reached over and went to place the cache in a nice little nook......
Where did that little critter come from!!
It was the big-headed Ring Road Redback, and it's taken another cache! Before I could stand he was bolting towards the road and as soon as I gathered my gear and my footing I took off after it. I spotted the bugger screaming along the guard rail running parallel to the road once again with the same strand of web dragging my cache behind it. I was tired after chasing the last one, and this creepy crawly had me exhausted. I sat near the corner of Telegraph Road and Ring Road and watched the traffic go by as I tried catching my breath. I was near the Armco and noticed something peculiar, it was a spider web with distinct dots and dashes. Strange as it may seem I realised it was something familiar, so I wrote it out for translation.

After I translated the code I placed what I discovered into my GPS and decided to investigate. The area around Ground Zero had a bit of long grass to climb through but wasn't too far in and I was soon at a spot where two trees grew close together. It took me a while to find the clever arachnid just sitting there but as with the other Ring Road Redback, it had found a nice spot for a cache.
Just leaves me to wonder, how many smart super fast little Redbacks are living along this stretch of road? I don't know but now I want to see if there are more out there!
To be continued......
