Geocache Description:

Veteran North Carolina geocachers may recall a virtual cache called "Around and Around it Goes" (GCKHV), which brought one to a remarkable location at a crossroads in rural Wilson County. As you arrived at the coordinates, the piney woods suddenly gave way to a field full of ingenious scrap-metal contraptions, all spinning in the breeze (if there was one). These were the work of Vollis Simpson, and you can read all about him and his artwork here: https://www.wilsonwhirligigpark.org. That's the website for the park in downtown Wilson where many of his creations may now be found.

The coordinates for our virtual cache take you to a spot in this park where you'll have an excellent view of the whirligigs, day or night (they're illuminated). You'll want to tour the park, of course, and as you do you can find the answers to the three questions below:

1. Near the coordinates you'll find a whirligig called "Guitar Player." As you face the metal man playing the guitar, he's at the top of the left-hand pole of the structure. Go to the right-hand pole: How many stars are painted on that pole (just the pole)?

2. How many birds will you find on "NC/SC State Line"?

3. Finally, what two words are written on the back of the "Mule Train"?

Send us your answers to claim the find.

Enjoy the park – Hope you have some wind while you're there!
