RABUN BALD SUMMIT VIRTUAL: is located at the posted coordinates.
According to Wikipedia, "Rabun Bald, at 4,696 feet in elevation, is the second-highest peak in the state of Georgia; only Brasstown Bald, at 4,784 feet in elevation, is higher. Rabun Bald has an observation tower on the summit, which "provides hikers with views that, on clear days, extend for more than 100 miles." Rabun Bald is the 105th highest peak in the United States.
Rabun Bald was selected as the site for this virtual reward cache for the following reasons:
* Hike Required: Unlike the Brasstown Bald summit, which can be driven to, Rabun Bald is only accessible via a hike
* Elevation: 2nd highest location in the state of Georgia
* Views: If the weather cooperates, you'll be rewarded with some great views
Ultimately this virtual cache rewards visitors with a fun journey and a great destination, which is my recipe for a great virtual.
Logging Requirements: To get credit for visiting to this virtual cache location, do the following before logging your visit:
1. Send me a message or email specifying the exact count of wooden board pieces on the top of the observation tower which are positioned in the same direction (lengthwise) as the arrow located on the "RABUN 2" geodetic survey reference marker.
2. Post a unique photo of you or something indicating you visited the summit
NOTES:
1. Each person must send a message with the correct answer as well as post a unique photo to the 'found' log...this pertains to each member of a group.
2. Visits made prior to the date this virtual cache was published do not qualify.
