Geocache Description:

Welcome to Cumberland Gap and the Tri-State Marker for the junction of the states of Kentucky, Virginia, and Tennessee. Cumberland Gap served as a key passageway to the west through the Cumberland Mountain ridge line of the Appalachian Mountains.

As a visitor of Cumberland Gap National Historical Park, I suggest you stop by the park's visitor center first to pick up a trail map. Begin your 1.2 mile uphill hike to the tri-state marker from the Thomas Walker trailhead. Parts of the trail are steep, but the trail is well marked and maintained by the park service.

Cumberland Gap National Historical Park is open 24 hours a day to pedestrians and cyclists.

The visitor center houses a museum with hands-on exhibits and an auditorium featuring two films to view at no charge. The visitor center is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Logging Requirements
To log your cache find you will need to answer three questions and perform one task. Please message your answers to me through my profile.

1. At the pyramid structure along the trail, you will find four daughters. What are their names?
2. At the tri-state marker, how many stones are inside the Kentucky portion of the circle?
3. From the marker at the site, what year was the location designated?
4. Post a photo, with your find log, of yourself or at least your hand with a thumbs up with the Kentucky marker. Please do not post photos from previous visits.
