Chardon was founded in 1812. The Square was designed to be reminiscent of the typical New England town commons surrounded by the most important community institutions including the court house, churches, schools and town hall. This church building has stood on this spot on Chardon Square for over 140 years. Currently, the building is home to the Pilgrim Christian Church but it has had various names over the years. Recently, the main steeple and bell tower have been replaced restoring the historic beauty and character to this building. Please enjoy the beautiful stained-glass windows including the pentagram above the main door. If you are here at the right time you will be treated to the sounds of the Carillon chiming from the bell tower.
To earn a “smilie” on this cache, simply e-mail or message me the exact wording on the historical plaque to the left of the main door on the exterior of the building. You may need to climb the front steps if the plaque is obscured by foliage.
Permission was granted by the Vice-Moderator of the Consistory of the current Pilgrim Christian Church for the placement of this virtual cache.
