Willkommen in der Hohen Wand
Die Hohe Wand ist ein sehr beliebtes Ausflugsziel und bietet einiges an Abenteuern und wundervollen Momenten in der Natur. Es gibt viele Gründe, hierher zu kommen, auch ohne dieses Gespenst zu besuchen.

Die Hohe Wand ist ein Karstplateau mit rund 250 Höhlen, allerdings nur wenigen Schachthöhlen.
Ich möchte Euch den Schneeschacht, Katasternummer 1863/16, vorstellen.
Um zum Schacht zu gelangen gibt es natürlich reichlich Varianten und Wege, ich würde Euch den Parkplatz beim Seiser-Toni empfehlen. Dann die Route auf gemütlichen Wegen und über den Wildenauer Steig (da hat man schon im Klettersteig ein wenig Höhlen-feeling) bis zu den Koordinaten. Diese sind am linken Hang des Leitergrabens, in der Nähe der Einmündung des Steinklammergrabens.
Hier angekommen sollte man für den Einbau die etwas entfernten und stabilen Bäume wählen und auf einen sauberen Seilverlauf achten. Der ca. 15 m hohe Einstiegsschacht sollte nur per Seil befahren werden, da die vorhandenen Eisenklammern zwar verlockend, aber auch schon sehr rostig und im unteren Bereich bedenklich wacklig sind.
Achtet auf eine Hintersicherung, d. h. eine doppelte Verankerung des Seils. Das Seil ist bei Schachthöhlen eure einzige Möglichkeit, das Tageslicht wieder zu erblicken, daher bitte sehr sorgfältig arbeiten!
Von der laubbedeckten Sohle geht es dann durch einen kurzen Gang zur ersten Halle. Hier führen zwei Parallelschächte ca. 8 m nach unten, dies ist interessant, jedoch noch keine große Herausforderung. Das eigentliche Ziel ist der linke, sehr enge und winkelige Gang, der nach einer knackigen Engstelle direkt in den ca. 10 m tiefen Beckenschacht führt. Hier gibt es wahrlich schöne Versinterungen zu bewundern. Das ist dann der genussvolle Teil eurer Reise ins Innere der Hohen Wand.
Am Boden angelangt gibt es einige Tierschädel zu entdecken und es wird Euch natürlich sofort das Höhlenbuch auffallen.
Die Log-Bedingung ist allerdings kein Eintrag, sondern ein Bild von Euch mit dem Höhlenbuch und seinem Behälter.
Dann kommt auch schon der Aufstieg, der durch die Engstelle nochmals ziemlich fordernd sein wird. Wenn Ihr dann aus der Hohen Wand gesund und munter draußen seid, baut bitte alle eure Einbauten vollständig wieder ab.
Selbstverständlich sollten folgende Punkte sein:
- Höhlen sind einzigartige und sehr empfindliche Lebensräume für Flora und Fauna. Bitte verhaltet Euch bei der Befahrung so, dass Ihr den Lebensraum nicht zerstört und seine Bewohner nicht gefährdet!
- Besonderer Schutz gilt den Fledermäusen, die diese Höhle als Winterquartier nutzen. Deswegen wird dieser Cache vom 31.10. - 01.04. deaktiviert. Bitte respektiert dies!
- Hinterlasst keine Abfälle in und außerhalb der Höhle.
- Nehmt keinen Höhlenschmuck mit.
Sicherheitsrelevante Hinweise:
Dies ist ein anspruchsvoller Höhlencache für Fortgeschrittene!!
Es wird einiges an Erfahrung, persönlicher Selbsteinschätzung und Ausrüstung benötigt!
Befahrt keine Höhle alleine und aktiviert immer eine Alarmperson.
Diese sollte über den Ort und die geplante Uhrzeit eures Ein- und Ausstiegs informiert sein und bei Überschreitung des Zeitplans die Höhlenrettung informieren. Hier der Link dazu.
Seid Euch eurer Grenzen bewusst und brecht notfalls auch mal vorzeitig ab, niemand zwingt Euch, Sicherheit hat oberste Priorität!
Beherrscht eure Ausrüstung, die SRT (Single Rope Technic) sollte Euch bereits vertraut sein, BEVOR Ihr mit dem Gedanken spielt, hierher anzureisen.
Es gibt für beide Schächte jeweils zwei Laschen, bzw Klebeanker. Somit ist es nicht notwendig zu bohren! Die Laschen sollten nicht entfernt werden, zur Not besteht jedoch für Kundige die Möglichkeit Sanduhren zu verwenden.

The Hohe Wand is a very popular destination and offers a lot of adventures and wonderful moments in nature. There are many reasons to come here, even without visiting this ghost.

The Hohe Wand is a karst plateau with around 250 caves, but only a few shafts.
I would like to introduce you to the snow shaft, cadastral number 1863/16.
To get to the shaft there are of course plenty of options and ways, I would recommend the parking at the Seiser-Toni. Then the route on comfortable paths and over the Wildenauer Steig (as you have already on the via ferrata a little cave feeling) to the coordinates. These are on the left slope of the Leitergraben, near the mouth of the Steinklammergraben.
Here you should choose for the installation of the distant and stable trees and pay attention to a clean course of the rope. The approximately 15 m high manhole should only be used by rope, as the existing iron braces are tempting, but also very rusty and at the bottom of questionable shaky.
Pay attention to an intrusion, it means a double anchoring of the rope. The rope is the only way you can see the light of day at the shafts, so please work very carefully!
From the leaf-covered sole it then goes through a short corridor to the first hall. Here are two parallel shafts about 8 m down, this is interesting, but not a big challenge. The actual goal is the left, very narrow and angular course, which leads after a crisp bottleneck directly into the approximately 10 m deep pool shaft. Here you can admire truly beautiful sintering. This is the enjoyable part of your journey into the interior of Hohe Wand.
On the ground, there are some animal skulls to discover and you will immediately notice the cave book.
The log condition is not an entry, but a picture of you with the cave book and its container.
Then comes the ascent, which will be quite demanding again through the bottleneck. If you are safe and sound outside of the Hohe Wand, please completely dismantle all your fixtures.
Of course, the following points should be:
- Caves are unique and very sensitive habitats for flora and fauna. Please behave during the journey so that you do not destroy the habitat and do not endanger its inhabitants!
- Special protection applies to the bats, who use this cave as winter quarters. Therefore, this cache is from 31.10. - 01.04. disabled. Please respect this!
- Do not leave any waste inside or outside the cave.
- Do not take any cave jewelry.
