Perched high atop a bluff, Merlin peered through his telescope to see distant lands from the past and future. Beautiful horizons brought memories and visions of times gone by and times yet to come. These images he cherished in his heart, a world filled with adventure, hope, and love.
At the posted coordinates, you will find a poll marking St Louis County Land. From this spot, hike to the waypoint marked “Merlin's Lookout - N 38° 29.317 W 090° 38.487.” Note, after climbing the first hill, you can follow the top of the hill to the east which will eventually come to a trail that provides easy access to the first waypoint.
Once at the lookout, you will be searching for a concrete slab with four digits and four letters (ordered from left to right: 2 digits - 2 letters - 2 digits - 2 letters). Ignore the wiggly line on the left side of the slab and the numbers below "JZ." Plug the numbers into the formula below to solve for the final. Note, you will need to convert one of the letters to a numeric value, i.e. A = 1, B = 2, D = 4. There is no need to go close to the edge at the final!
The final is located at N 38° 29. (K + 1), L, (O - 1) W 90° 38. N, K, (M + 1)
