Every day of every year, people of all backgrounds get into danger in the water. Since the foundation of the RNLI in 1824, brave volunteer lifeboat crews and lifeguards have saved over 140,000 lives. To this day, they now protect hundreds of communities around the UK and Ireland through their search and rescue service.
Whitstable Lifeboat Station is one of 238 stations across the UK and one of 8 around the East Kent Coast. Situated adjacent to the historic harbour, this is a great spot to soak up the bustling atmosphere of this marvellous seaside town. The RNLI shop is open from Tuesday to Sunday 10am – 4pm when you can also gain access to an observation gallery within the boathouse to view the boat and the tractor, and find out more about the history of Whitstable Lifeboat Station.
