Le cascine del Rio Rosto
Sul versante destro della valle del Rio Rosto si trovano molte antiche cascine.
Abitate sin dal XVIII secolo da dozzine di famiglie, che vivano di allevamento di bestiame, taglio della legna, raccolta di castagne e coltivazione di grano e patate, queste cascine sono state abbandonate nel corso degli anni '60 del secolo scorso, andando progressivamente in rovina. Oggi sono ridotte a ruderi nascosti nei boschi, misere testimonianze della antica civiltà contadina delle montagne liguri.
La Gattazzè
Fra tutte le cascine della valle del Rio Rosto, la Gattazzè (o più correttamente Ca' Tazzè) era certamente la più grande ed importante.
Già palazzo di caccia dei marchesi Raggi, l'insediamento contava diversi edifici, fra cui una cappella circolare (ancora oggi discretamente conservata) ove si celebrava messa tutte le mattine. Fu abbandonata in seguito ad un incendio che la distrusse nell'estate del 1968.
Itinerario: si può facilmente raggiungere la Gattazzè partendo dalla Colla di Acquabianca [waypoint P0] e passando per Ca' Batin oppure partendo dalla Strada Provinciale SP73 del passo del Faiallo [waypoint P1] e passando per Ca' Nova.

The farms of the Rio Rosto
On the right side of the Rio Rosto valley there are many old farmhouses.
Inhabited since the eighteenth century by dozens of families, who lived off cattle breeding, wood cutting, chestnut harvesting and cultivation of wheat and potatoes, these farms were abandoned during the 60s of the last century. Today they have become ruins hidden in the woods, poor evidence of the ancient rural culture of the Ligurian mountains.
The Gattazzè
Of all the farmhouses in the Rio Rosto valley, the Gattazzè (or more correctly Ca' Tazzè) was certainly the largest and most important.
Formerly a hunting palace of the Marquises Raggi, the settlement had several buildings, including a circular chapel (still fairly well preserved) where mass was celebrated every morning. It was abandoned after a fire that destroyed it in the summer of 1968.
Itinerary: you can easily reach the Gattazzè starting from Colla di Acquabianca [waypoint P0] and passing by Ca' Batin or starting from SP73 "Provincial Road of the Faiallo Pass" [waypoint P1] and passing by Ca' Nova.
