NUDGE - Spider Web
I first came across the spider web puzzle when I read a geocaching book several years ago. It explained how to solve the puzzle. I found a spider web cache in western Virginia and solved it, but NEVER expected to find it. Then I got invited on a geocaching trip with a friend. I looked at our destination and to my surprise, in the area was the spider web puzzle I had solved. WOW!!!! I was VERY excited!!!
This puzzle is a radar chart.
The SPOKES are the lines going up and down through the circles and how many spokes there are depends on the number of letters in the message. This message has 25 spokes for 25 letters in the message.
There are thirteen CIRCLES going around this web. Each ring represents 2 numbers. So where a ring intercepts a spoke, the numbers are 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24 & 26. If the line does not intercept a spoke, it is an odd number.
Beyond A Nudge
So starting with the spoke going up in middle top, it is a 1, since it is between the center and the 1st ring. Going right to the next spoke, it stops at the 2nd ring, so it is a 4. The spider went directly to the right for the next spoke, so it is a 4.
So from the three spokes you have 1-4-4. Continue around the web determining the numbers indicated by the spoke/ring intersections.
There are two easy ways to convert your numbers to letters.
1. 1 = A, 2 = B, 3 = C, etc. to get the message.
2. Go to Cipher Tools and copy and paste your numbers and dashes in the "Letter Numbers" decoder. (Remember to change to decrypt.)
Use the north coordinates in the puzzle description and then do the math to the posted west coordinates.
