EASY Puzzle 1 - Prologue Mystery Cache

This cache is NOT located at the posted coordinates. The caches are ALL located not far from the edge of the road. If you find the coords take you over 15 feet off the road, your coords are not correct!

You must solve an EASY puzzle to get the final coords.
  NOTE: I did not say quick, I said EASY. I will tell you how to solve.

This is a geoart series of 48 puzzle caches that when solved will form a question mark inside a circle.

This is a "learn how to solve puzzle" series.

EASY puzzles 1 to 5 are introductory tips on how to get started solving puzzles with a puzzle to apply what you learned or show you something else.

EASY puzzles 6 to 48 are actual puzzles.

All puzzles can be solved anywhere, except for EASY puzzle 35 - it is a field puzzle and is solved at the location near where the cache is hidden.

These puzzles can be solved in any order, but if you are new to puzzle solving, it should be helpful to solve the first 5 in order first.

In the description, there are three sections enclosed in different colored boxes.

RED BOX: General information about all the caches in this series. (This box)

BLUE BOX: The EASY puzzle to solve to get the final coords are located in this box.

NOTE: Try to solve the puzzle without a NUDGE! But if you read through the puzzle information and still need a BIG nudge, look at the green "NUDGE" box.

GREEN BOX: The nudge box - information about how to solve the type of puzzle contained in the blue box.

NOTE: This box contains more than a nudge (information) to help complete the easy puzzle in the blue box. It goes way Beyond A NUDGE!

This cache is part of a series of 48 different, EASY puzzle caches that forms a question mark inside a circle (geoart). Although a few may be long (lots of reading OR a little time to solve), they will still be EASY. Always try to solve the puzzle before going to the NUDGE box. In the NUDGE section, the Beyond A Nudge will tell you exactly how to solve the puzzle. They will NOT give you the final coords.

The idea behind this series is to teach you exactly how a puzzle is solved so that later you will be able to solve others. And even if you don't learn to LOVE puzzle caches, hopefully you will look at them more and have FUN!

These puzzles will NOT go into the mind of other cachers who develop a puzzle, but hopefully will help give you more insight as to what you might be looking for.

A good puzzle always has a geochecker. A geochecker will make sure no cacher is looking at the wrong place for a cache. They usually are always at the end of the description. If you have worked on the puzzle for a while and still don't get the 'Congratulations!' page, then use more resources.

THE PUZZLE

To find this cache, answer the following question: What is the WORD used for giving background information about a book before the story begins? In this case, the word used to give information about this series before "The Beginning".

You can validate your puzzle solution with certitude.

We are in NC. It has rained. The logs WILL probably be wet! Unless someone has changed it, it is writ-in-rain paper. Write on it.

Neat tip I just learned last March:

1. Highlight the word or question you want to answer by holding down on left mouse button and scrolling across the word or question on the webpage.

2. It should turn blue. Right click and you will see four options.

3. Click on the second option [Search google for......] and it will take you to google search and you should be able to get your answer.

I am calling these puzzles EASY, because if you do not get the geochecker to give you success, I will be VERY glad to give you more NUDGES to help you get it solved! I want this series to be FUN and I want you to know how to solve them.
