Geocache Description:

This information is for privileged personnel only.

We are at war. WWII is escalating and Australia must have a contingency. It has been decided that in the event of invasion, the northern part of out content will be conceded so that defence can be concentrated on key areas of our country, between Brisbane and Melbourne. The Brisbane Line will be established - a hard line of defence to halt the enemy advancing further south. In an invasion event, the northern population, as well as many head of cattle will flee through this barrier, and it will then be defended by over 10,000 combat trained men stationed at nearby Tenterfield.

As part of this strategy, Dragon's Teeth, or tank traps as they are also known, will be installed into key locations to halt any invasion attempt to the southern part of our nation. These deterrents will be installed near Tenterfield, along side the Bruxner Highway between Tenterfield and Casino, and in the Paddy's Flat area.

The role of these instruments is to force a enemy tank into strategic positions where they can be attacked and destroyed. Should the enemy attempt to cross the dragon teeth, the tank will become snagged and venerable to our artillery. Damage to the undercarriage of the tank is often caused by trying to pass over one or more of these traps, which again leaves the vehicle venerable.

This war strategy is to be kept strictly confidential as many of our citizens will not be in favour of a plan that involved abandoning half our nation to the enemy. Should this strategy be known to anyone unauthorised, the government will deny all knowledge and all documentation will be destroyed.

May we win this war and never have to execute this operation.

This cache is at a location where there were 26 concrete pyramids, all cast onsite and then connected together by steel cable.. Timber posts were also buried in the ground on the bank either side. After the war was over, they were dragged up on the bank on the southern side of the river. A flood in 2011 exposed all the concrete pyramids to some degree.

The tank traps have been used as evidence to suggest the controversial 'Brisbane Line' was in fact part of the Australian Government's defence strategy, the government denied that any such strategy existed.

Grave sites are visible just past the tank traps. Very little is known about the deceased but it is believed a bushranger who travelled the area is buried there.
