Geocache Description:

Welcome to Liberty Lake Regional Park! This park really packs a punch! It seems to have something for everybody: hiking, biking, swimming, horseback riding, snowshoeing, 4-wheeling, camping and of course, geocaching! It has a playground, picnic shelters, and a BBQ area. One of the largest county parks in the State of Washington, it contains over 3,591 acres of wetlands, lake shore, forest and conservation areas. There are miles of back country trail, including the popular 8.3-mile Liberty Lake Loop Trail (a combination of the Edith Hansen Riding Trail and the Liberty Creek Trail) , which will take you by Liberty Creek Falls and Camp Hughes Cabin, a shelter built by the Boy Scouts.

If you hike from Memorial Day to Labor Day there is a small day use fee, but the rest of the year park use is free.

I placed this cache beyond the road into the park, and beyond the ORV and Horse parking lots. I got a wiild hair and drove up the road, and I'm sure glad I did! There are some wonderful views of Liberty Lake, part of the park, and Hawk Hill (Saltese Uplands) from the road. It's a pretty little drive, and only 2 miles past the aforementioned parking lots.

LIBERTY LAKE PARK MAIN PARKING AREA (N 47° 38.215 W 117° 3.660):

This is the main parking area. There is a small fee per person to park here in the summer.

ORV PARK (N 47° 38.245 W 117° 3.234):

The Liberty Lake ORV Park is a 350-acre park located next to Liberty Lake Regional Park. There are approximately 16 miles of trails in the park. Terrain ranges from beginner to advanced with a mixture of gentle to steep slopes including scenic trail rides, mud bogs, and hill climbs. Riders are required to have a current ORV sticker clearly displayed, and there is a 1000-pound ATV weight limit. Mufflers must have USDA approved spark arresters and noise baffles. The park accommodates ATVs and motorcycles only, no automobiles or trucks.

HORSEBACK RIDING ( N 47° 38.132 W 117° 3.319):

Liberty Lake Regional Park offers horse and mule riders about 16 miles of scenic multi use horse trails surrounding Liberty Lake.
