Geocache Description:

ROUND LAKE STATE PARK

Welcome to one of my very favorite places! This is where I always take Brodie when we want to go for a walk. I camp here often, and kayak here. I LOVE the bullfrogs when they sing in the summer. We were fishing from a canoe one time, and a moose came RIGHT down beside our boat to eat the lilypads! There are beaver here that smack their tails on the water before they dive down. There are osprey and bald eagles that dive down and catch fish, and a resident blue heron that isn't scared of people. Hikers, Mt bikers, fishermen and swimmers all enjoy this park, and skiers and snowshoers do in the winter, as well as ice fishermen. I've kayaked here in a full moon and at sunset and snowshoed on the lake in the winter. You can stay busy all day, with geocaching and all the other things this park has to offer. There are very interesting interpretive signs on the main trails, with cute jokes on them and lots of interesting information. You have 142 acres of land and 58 acres of lake to enjoy!

There are THREE main trails to walk:
Trapper Trail is the one immediately around the lake, with a viewing/snack bench directly across the lake from the docks/swimming beach.
Stewardship Trail is a wider route that takes you into the back woods more and then swings back onto the main lake trail along the eastern edge of the lake.
"Swamp Tromp" is a short interpretive walk along the northeastern part of the lake, near the campground.

There are also trails intersecting the main trails along the way. I have added a couple reference points for a main cross trail, and also a free parking spot at the back gate.

There is a $5 day use fee charged to park inside the park, but if you have an Idaho Parks Pass you get in for free.

FACILITIES:
Large paved parking lot
2 Picnic shelters
Picnic tables with grills
vault toilet
Flush toilets & showers (seasonal)
2 swimming/fishing/boat docks
Swim beach
Kayak/canoe/SUP rentals in the summer
Amphitheater

There is NO boat ramp. This lake is closed to large boats. It is open to kayaks, canoes and non-motorized boats (Trolling motors are acceptable.).
VERY well-maintained hiking trails around the lake, over the 2 creeks and in the woods (I am trying not to sing "To Grandmother's house we go!)

If you have any questions about the park, you can call: (208) 263-3489

If you want, you can park at the back gate on Irish Road for free. There is limited parking of 1-4 cars. Coordinates are: N48° 9.849 W116° 39.275. Do your research ahead of time so you don't get lost. This starts outside park boundaries, so wear orange on you and your pet during hunting season.
