This is a puzzle cache and is not at the posted coordinates. Please solve the following puzzle to learn the cache coordinates.
For social distancing, please approach from the beach. Also, there is no parking in the neighborhood nearby. It is best to park in one of the beach lots, such as at the end of Avenue U.

That is the approximate value of pi. Pi is a mathematical constant - a number of special interest that does not change. It represents the number you get when you divide the distance around a circle (the circumference) by the distance across the circle (the diameter).
One of the most interesting things about pi is that the digits after the decimal go on forever. That means your telephone number and your Social Security Number appear an infinite number of times within pi!
Mathematicians and computer scientists are interested in computing pi to as many digits as possible. The current record is 31 trillion digits!
Those of us with less powerful computers, but MUCH better memories, compete to memorize the most digits of pi. The record for that is 70,000 digits! If you memorized one more digit each day, it would take you 192 years to beat the record!
Personally, I think a day of geocaching would be a lot more fun!
The posted coordinates will take you to a pretty cool rock garden near the Seaside beach. I have had three puzzles here, Dalmatians Rock!, Dalmatians Rock Again! and most recently, Pi on the Rocks (Multi). All were based on rocks painted with the clues needed to solve the puzzles. However, folks are treating the rock garden as a trading zone, and I have had at least seven rocks disappear over time. Enough!
For this new puzzle, the clue is virtual rather than physical, and thus much less likely to walk away! It is in the form of a photo of a "Pi on the Rocks" painted rock. To solve the puzzle, you will need to find that photo.
It can be found on the listing page of a geocache somewhere in the world. You will need to visit that cache listing and view the photo. Here is a pi-based puzzle to help you with that:
0 - p
1 - r, h
2 - e, a, h, n, i
3 - a, e, c, c, o, l, i
4 - c, e, s
5 - i, s, a, f
6 - d, t, e
7 - n, g
8 - w, h, v
9 - v, i, d, o
Once you have located the pi rock photo, use the red digits to complete the north coordinate and the blue digits to complete the west coordinate, as follows:
The cache is at:
N 45 58.7??
W 123 56.1??
Verify your final coordinates by clicking here for the Checker.
On the way to the cache, you can stay on the dunes and beach - no need to go into the neighborhood.
Be sure to check out the rock garden nearby at the posted coordinates!
Celebrate your success with a piece of pi!
Enjoy the numbers, the cache and most importantly, THE BEACH!
