About GIFF
After a brief pause by Geocaching HQ in 2022, the Geocaching International Film Festival is back! For the sixth year, we're excited to bring the film event back to Grand Rapids! The Geocaching International Film Festival (GIFF) is a collection of user-submitted Geocaching short films compiled into one film. A GIFF event showcases the film reel and allows all cachers the unique opportunity to view the film. By attending an official GIFF event, you earn a special 2023 GIFF souvenir.
When & Where
Due to the extremely limited availability of the libraries in this area, this year we are returning to the community room of the Gaines Township branch of the KDL on Monday, November 13th from 6p-8pm. We will have mingling until roughly 6:20pm. The library closes at 8pm and we have to ensure the community room is returned to the library staff in good condition. Depending on the length of the film reel, we will start the film between 6:20pm and 6:30pm.
While I believe that all geocaching events should be free, finding an indoor space to house our group is a challenge. The cost to reserve the community room is $25. I would ask that all attendees donate $1 to help offset the cost of the room. Anyone who is able to hang around for 15 minutes to help reset the room would be greatly appreciated. Due to the added deposit required to serve food and the limited amount of time to wind down our event, no snacks or beverages are being provided.
GIFF Finalists:
We hope you're able to join us. I understand the timing of the event could be better, but we are limited to the availability of the Kent District Library, which only has evening hours on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. If you are interested, but unable to attend, the GIFF film reel will be made public after the conclusion of the GIFF event run.
