No, no, just kidding! There is NO fishing allowed here! BUT, if you want to SEE something very kewl, stop by here from November as late as February, and you will see small landlocked sockeye salmon called Kokanee gather by the thousands to spawn and die along the gravel shores of Coeur d’Alene Lake, especially around Wolf Lodge Bay, and hundreds of bald eagles! For bald eagles, the kokanee spawn means a feast, and in late fall and early winter bald eagles gather in large numbers around the bay and create one of Idaho’s great wildlife spectacles. The numbers vary from year to year, but it’s not uncommon for more than 300 eagles to be counted. It is a sight to behold! This place is a photographer’s dream, to see and photograph bald eagles swooping into this area to catch the spawning salmon. You can view the eagles at Wolf Lodge Bay, Beauty Bay, Higgins Point & Mineral Ridge boat launch. On weekends in December fish and game will even have a display about bald eagles at the Wolf Lodge Bay turnout.
PLEASE:
Avoid disturbing the birds. Do not approach them on foot.
Stay as far away from the birds as possible. Binoculars are essential.
Stay in your vehicle when viewing nearby birds.
Park off the main road.
Do not stop on the road or look for eagles while driving
Make sure you sign the actual micro log. PLEASE be wary of muggles!
