This Geocaching event is a meet-and-greet social at the Information Station in Huber Woods Park in the Locust section of Middletown, NJ. To earn an Attended for this Event, meet up at the event location between 11:45am and 12:15pm.

Optional Scavenger Hunt: 12:00pm to 4:00pm on event date (or rain date)
While the event itself has a terrain rating of 1.0 (wheelchair-accessible), most terrains for the scavenger hunt are not wheelchair-accessible (ranging from 1.5 to 3.0).
Scavenger Hunt Details
- Starts at 12:00pm at the event location and ends at 4:00pm at the same location.
- Gather at 11:50am to sign up and hear the introduction.
- Approximate Walking Distance (if pursuing all items): 3 to 4 Miles
- Each item will earn 1 to 4 pts as indicated on the hunt list.
- The four types of items on the list are:
1) Physical Finds: Items possibly found on the trail or in your caching backpack.
2) Answers to Questions: Most based on coords provided.
3) Photos: Things found in the area (no coords provided); plus a few objects at specific coords.
4) Unknown: Could involve solving a puzzle or going to multiple stages.
- Physical items will be returned to each team upon scoring.
- Suggested Equipment: Smartphone w/GPS (or GPSr) and Digital Camera Device (which likely is your Smartphone w/GPS) are MUST HAVE'S. Hiking boots or footware for dirt paths. Adventure Lab app on at least 1 device. Vehicle. Bug spray. Flashlight or headlamp. Pens. Clipboard. Bag to hold physical finds. Plastic gloves if you have to grab something gross.
- Winners will be announced as soon as scoring has completed after the 4:00pm finish.
- If you wish to end early & get scored, you can. But text the event host (# provided at event).
- To assist with planning, Scavengers are strongly encouraged to log a Will Attend indicating intent to compete in the hunt.
Scavenger Hunt Rules
- Compete in the hunt as a team of 1 to 4 people.
- Teams must identify all members at the start. No switching or combining teams during the hunt.
- No sharing of answers or other collusion across teams.
- A team can only earn points for an item once. If the item is a Leaf, a team can only earn points for 1 Leaf even if it turns in 8 leaves.
- Photos must include the event fan issued to the team.
- Each team will receive only 1 event fan for photos.
- If the item indicates a TEAM photo, then the pic must show the required item, the team fan, and all team members.
- When teams return at 4pm to be scored, hand in your sheet and loot, then step aside until your team is called for scoring (i.e. to show pics).
- During scoring, everyone must keep 20 feet away from the scoring table until your team is called.

SCAVENGER 2024: Into The Woods is JerseyEric's 4th and (most likely) final annual scavenger hunt. It was inspired by his participation in the late sofiecat's final scavenger hunt, 2012 SJG SCAVENGER HUNT, at Wharton State Forest in Shamong, NJ.
SCAVENGER 2024 focuses on the Huber Woods Park and beyond –- towards the Atlantic Highlands.
