Point William
An
Astoria Riverwalk Cache

Enjoy a great walk on the east end of the Astoria Riverwalk and find a bunch of
caches!
To find this cache you DO NOT need to climb down into the rocks!
The majority of the eastern end of the Riverwalk is lined with blackberry
bushes. In mid to late summer the berry-picking is superb. Be sure to bring a container!
When you visit the produce section of even nearby supermarkets, a small
container of blackberries sells for around $7.00. There are hundreds of
thousands of times that quantity along the River. Imagine what they would
be worth if they were being sold at the store!
This cache replaces
Blackberry Billionaire which was located further east along the old railroad
tracks. Unfortunately, the area was getting heavily overgrown by
blackberry vines and hornets are common. This new (7-2024) cache is much
easier and safer to access!
Enjoy the nearby plaque which describes how Tongue Point was formerly named
Point William and the visitation by the Lewis and Clark party. I think
they should have kept the original name!
