Geocache Description:

25 Challenges for 25 years of Geocaching!

This cache is NOT placed at the posted coordinates, GZ is listed as a visible waypoint.

To support Victoria's first ever Block Party, event mascot Muggle the Puggle has teamed up with geocachers across Victoria to place a range of caches for you all to find & enjoy. Whether you visit before, during, or after The Sunbury Event, we hope you enjoy your time in Sunbury & the surrounding areas of Hume.

This series of 25 Challenge Caches are all themed around the number 25 (some more loosely than others). Happy 25 years!

This challenge has not been deliberately designed to exclude or discriminate against any Geocachers, but to create a sense of achievement when you reach certain goals. Feel free to sign this cache at any time, but to claim the find you must qualify for the challenge. If you do not qualify, you may add a 'write note' log until such time that you do qualify. The challenge checker at the bottom of this page will tell you if you qualify. This challenge has been placed in compliance with the Challenge Cache Guidelines and the  Victorian Regional Policy.

Muggle the Puggle's Challenge #10 - Around the World in 25 Caches Challenge

There are over 3 million active caches, hidden in 191 different countries across all seven continents (even Antarctica)! To say geocaching is a global game would be a bit of an understatement and each and every one of those caches are unique and special, but in order to celebrate 25 years of this amazing global game, Muggle the Puggle has curated a special list to highlight some extra special caches from around the globe.

1). The Original Stash (GCF)  - Oregon, USA: The very first geocache to ever be hidden by Dave Ulmer, the one that started it all!

2). Original Stash Tribute Plaque (GCGV0P) - Oregon, USA: Unfortinately, "The Original Stash" (GCF) has since been archived, but there is now a cache right next to the Original Stash Tribute Plaque, a plaque placed to commemorate the start of geocaching. This plaque forms one third of the "Geocaching Trifecta".

3). Geocaching Headquarters (GCK25B) - Washington, USA: Another third of the "Geocaching Trifecta". Located in Seattle, Washington, the location where this great global game is managed and it's even it's own unique icon!

4). Mission 9: Tunnel of Light (GC1169) - Washington, USA: The final third of the "Geocaching Trifecta" and only one of two active caches with the rare Project A.P.E. Cache type.

5). Mingo (GC30) - Kansas, USA: Hidden on 11-May-2000, this cache is currently the oldest active geocache in the entire world!

6). Open Space 6 (GC190) - New Mexico, USA: Although letterboxing predates geocaching by over 100 years, this cache was the first official letterbox hybrid.

7). Austin Geocachers Happy Hour (GC389) - Texas, USA: Most likely not the first gathering of geocachers, but the first official event to ever be held.

8). Houston Webcam Cache #1 (GC21DF) - Texas, USA: Webcams, although now a legacy cache type and unfortunately due to privacy laws one cache type that is slowly dieing off, however this cache was the first official webcam cache.

9). GeoWoodstock 4 (GCRRC6) - Texas, USA: They say everything is bigger in Texas and apparently that is true for events too, as not only did Texas hold the first event, but this was the first hosted Mega event.

10). Please Donate Blood Cache (GC1C90) - Locationless (aka New York, USA): Although Locationless caches can now only be released by Geocaching HQ, they use to be much more prevalent. This one was the first.

11). Earth Day Cleanup at Raccoon Creek Park (GCE2F1) - Pennsylvania, USA: Although not the first event, this event was the first ever held CITO!

12). Octopus Garden (GC70) - North Carolina, USA: Not only the North Carolina's oldest cache ever hidden, but the world's first official Mystery cache.

13). Tour of Stone Mountain (GC1E) - Georgia, USA: This may be the second oldest's geocache in Georgia, but it just so happens to be the Worl'd first official Multi-cache.

14). Mission 4: Southern Bowl (GCC67) - São Paulo, Brazil: The second of the two active caches with the rare Project A.P.E. Cache type.

15). Where I went, Hugo (GC18FP7) - London, England: The first official Wherigo.

16). Lego - einer ist zuviel (GC13Y2Y) - Berlin, Germany: With 11,751 favourite points, this cache was and still is the most favourited cache in the world, unfortunately, it was archived 21-Oct-2021.

17). Project MUNICH2014 - Mia san Giga! (GC4K089) - Bayern, Germany: Something initially I don't think many geocachers would have thought possible, but this was the first ever giga event hosted.

18). Prague bridges 1 - Karluv most (GC189E5) - Hlavní město Praha, Czechia: With over 48,300+ finds; this cache is the most found cache in the world.

19). Rift Valley (GC53) - Rift Valley, Kenya: The Worl'd first Virtual cache, however this is currently disbuted with another potential contender, Virtual Dublin (GC60).

20). First New Zealand (GC45) - North Island, New Zealand: Not only was this cache the first cache hidden in New Zealand, but it was alos the first cache to ever be hidden outside of the USA.

21). Lane Cove (GC3E) - New South Wales, Australia: Geocaching comes downunder with this cache, the first cache hidden in Australia.

22). Earthcache I - a simple geology tour of Wasp Head (GCHFT2) - New South Wales, Australia: The worldest first Earthcache, and hidden on home soil, no less!

23). Victoria’s 1st (Melbourne's 1st) (GC7A) - Victoria, Australia: Geocaching comes to Victoria with this cache being the first cache hidden in Victoria.

24). The Melbourne Event 2015 (GC5GCJ8) - Victoria, Australia: The first Mega event to be hosted in Victoria and the beginning of Geocaching Victoria.

25). The Sunbury Event (GCAP417) - Victoria Australia: Victoria host's it's first ever block party, now let's party!

Don't worry this challenge isn't to find this list of caches or to even travel the world, but this challenge has been hidden in order to celebrate the global reach that geocaching has grown too.

In order to qualify for this challenge cache you need to have found enough caches so that your total cache-to-cache distance is enough to circumnavigate the Earth once or a minimum of 40,075 km. Good Luck!
