A quick walk (30 minutes) up the phone company access road to a wonderful view of Kaneohe Bay and the windward side of Oahu from Kahuku to Makapuu.
This cache replaces the Kailua/Kaneohe View cache that was plundered some time ago. This cache is a bit further off the beaten track to reduce the likelihood of plunder. We parked in a visitor parking space (N 21 25.644 / W 157 45.402) at the condos across Kaneohe Bay drive from the sewer plant and walked towards Kaneohe to the end of the parking lot where there is a chain blocking vehicle access to a dirt road (N 21 25.654 / W 157 45.471. Follow this road to its terminus at the Phone company access road (N21 25.650 / W 157 45.583) and follow your GPS to nearly the top. The cache was placed in the summer after a fire so the bushes are pretty thin. Never the less, you should be able follow the path on the ridge *down* to the cache without serious bushwhacking. The cache is a small ammo can at 456 ft of elevation.
Once you have bagged the cache check out the view at the top. There are two trails around the telephone compound - the Easterly one is short and steep and the Westerly one is longer but you can use the fence to aid your ascent.
Important note: The actual cache is Northwest of where indicated on the map shown below. This is true of most caches in Hawaii because of an error in placing a datum some time back. The cache is near the summit that is covered with cell sites.
