Stevens Creek Cache Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

GeoDoozer: Unfortunately I am archving this cache as of today. I received a courtesy call from a very nice DNR representative informing me that my cache was being removed. The DNR no longer allows geocaches on their properties.

The rep was very kind and agreed to mail me the logbook from the cache. No hard feelings.

Sorry to have to take this one down. Stevevens Creek Heritage Preserve is a great trail, so please utilize this great outdoor area, but be sure to follow all posted guidelines and rules.

Stevens Creek Cache

This cache is located on the Stevens Creek Heritage Preserve.  This is a little-known, but great place to do some easy to moderate hiking.  Please read the Rules and Regulations below before visiting.  Also consider donating property, funds or your time for the upkeep of this and other heritage preserve projects

The trail is marked but make sure you mark your vehicle as a waypoint before you start.  Plan on about 2.2 miles of hiking.  If you just go straight to the cache and back, you'll only do 1.2 miles - but it is highly recommended that you do the entire loop.  Make sure you read the trail guide below, it will really enhance your hike.  You will need to make a decision at the little bridge at N 33°41.315 / W 82°09.635 - turn right and head up the hill.  That will get you straight to the cache. You can go the other way, but it will be a lot longer....and confusing. The trail is a big loop and near the cache the two legs of the trail come within a couple of dozen feet of each other, but also several dozen feet in vertical distance apart. If you do get confused, note that you do NOT need to climb a near vertical cliff to get to the cache, you need to follow the trail around until you are on the 'high road'. Since the cache disappeared in late 2008, it has been re-situated to be a little safer, but still use caution, this cache is located on a steep hillside at the top of a 100+ foot cliff, use extreme caution retrieving it!  Do NOT try to retrieve this cache if the ground is icy. You do not need to venture toward the edge of the cliff, the cache is located on the uphill side of the clearing.

Please take a trash bag and bring out some trash - there always seems to be some litter, especially at the trailhead area at an otherwise pristine site.

The cache is in an ammo can.  It is well concealed, so please cover it back up.
