This cemetery, located in Cherokee County, can be found by solving
the clues below. You do not have to visit all the cemeteries in the
series to locate the mystery cemetery.
This cemetery, as you will see, has been severely
neglected. Only a very small portion of the cemetery is still in
use. This is a cemetery that you will have to see to
believe. As much as 80%, or more, of the cemetery has been
overtaken by thick forest, and many of the markers have gone
missing (or there never were any to begin with).
For the drive in, take care. This road is
possibly one of the worst in the county. While I had only slight
trouble navigating the road, small, low-riding vehicles could have
a problem. As an alternative, you may park along the side of the
road and walk in.
Please note that the coordinates posted above, DO
NOT lead to the cache location.

Yellow Creek:
In this cemetery is a tomb encased in brick with sliding windows on
two sides. How many years between the dates of birth and death?
From your answer, add the two digits together to get A. Add
one more to get B.
-
Pleasant Gap:
After signing the log, go to N33º 59.460 W 85º 31.313 and look
around for the Webbs. Mary P. was born (in the format MM/DD/YYYY)?
Add the digits for the days (DD) together. Edmund J. died (in the
format MM/DD/YYYY)? Again, add the digits for DD together. Now
subtract your answer for Edmund from that of Mary P.
Congratulations, you've just found C.
-
Mt. Lookout:
Very near N34º 14.648 W 85º 47.442 lies someone "Asleep in Jesus".

Arrington:
Stand at N33º 57.857 W 85º 27.520 and be careful not to bump you
head. Approximately 18 paces from your position, lies the
"First Person Buried in Arrington Cemetery". There is only one date
(year) on this stone. If you write the year as WXYZ, then W + X + Y
- Z = N. Now, approximately 18 paces from this stone (and
also 18 paces from your starting position) lie two markers bearing
pictures of the deceased. The last name at the bottom of one of
these stones has a different spelling than what appears at the top.
Using only the two letters that are different, how many letters
fall between? Add the two digits together and subtract one to get
G.
-
Carmel: After
you find the cache, set your GPSr to the following coordinates:

virtually identical markers. How many times does the letter "Z"
appear? Your answer is H.
-
Gnatville: At
the top of the hill, there is a large cross. The base on which the
cross sits is tiered. How many blocks compose the top tier of the
base - excluding the one that forms the base of the cross itself?
The first digit is K. The second digit is J.
-
Sheepskin:
Very near the cache is a small marker with the following
inscription:
"Weep not for me
dear father and mother,
your darling is
now at rest.
Then farewell
our sweet little brother,
your home is
with the blest".
This marker bears the age in the following
format: __yrs __ms __da. L is the number of months.
-
Salem: What was
William's nickname? Convert each letter to a number (A=1, B=2, C=3,
etc.) and add them all together. M is the digit that falls
between the two digits in the answer.
For assistance, you may wish to purchase a county
map available at many gas stations and convenience stores in and
around the town of Centre.
