Parking is at OS SH698153 on the minor road signed Cadair Idris from Dolgellau.
From the car park allow 90 minutes to reach the lake on a well defined track.
The Fox's path
The Fox’s Path starts opposite the Gwernan Lake Hotel, climbing through superb hill country.
(In 1823 a gold Bronze Age necklace was found along-side this path)
On passing the lake of Llyn Gafr (don’t forget the Goat Lake GCJVBY cache near by) the terrain starts to get steeper! with the towering cliffs of Penygadair and Cwfrwy ahead.
A further 30 minutes will bring you to the cache, set near the upper lake of Llyn Gadair.
For those continuing to the summit, and the Cadair Idris GCJBY5 cache, the official route of the Fox’s Path now climbs a severely strenuous scree slope on the E. side of the lake.
An easy circular return route from the summit is to head W. to pick up the Pony Path (easy family route) down the zig zags eventually bringing you to Ty-nant Farm, across the road from your car.
Don't forget your ink pad to take an impression of the rubber stamp found in the cache.
We hope you have as much fun finding our Cadair caches as we did setting them!
