Thanks goes to local cacher "natesdeal" for keeping Old St Lou
running for us! Thank you Nate!
Skip the food vendors in trailers near the Arch's east riverbank
and come on over to the historic Riverfront area of Old St. Louis
for your dining. No visit to the Arch should be complete without a
visit to this nearby area. Located in rustic Laclede's Landing,
this plaza is named after Pierre Liguest Laclede, who founded the
City of St. Louis in 1764. This area has been active since the
1800s and the city is to be commended for keeping this area going
with a well done restoration. Several OK restaurants are here (I've
never found real good food in St Louis!) and you might find
something to your liking. Most of the restaurants lie directly
SouthWest of the hide (SouthWest is always best!).
"Old Saint Lou" cache is now a micro. The cache location will
also show you some historical artifacts you might find interesting.
It should be a quick find near a large parking area for the
Landing.
PLEASE USE UTMOST STEALTH AND DISGRESSION
when removing and replacing the cache... it doesn't last too long
if you don't (it's on replacement #5). Depending on your time of
search, there can be a lot of people nearby.
For such a cool area and desireable tourist area, St. Louis
downtown has had a dearth of caches (at least in Aug '04),
especially highlighting the city's many interesting areas such as
this. Maybe this one can help remedy this shortage! Bon
apetite!
Please sign the log legibly and small with no stickers
please!
>>>> 11/12/05: Third container replacement made
today. This cache should be lasting longer if care is used. Changed
to Premium only for maybe some more durability.
>>>> 06/24/06: Four replacement today and hopefully
new CoolCache engineering will make it more durable. Do not try to
remove anchor system!
>>>> 09/14/06: Found the cable snapped off by the
last cacher with no heads-up given. Had to effect an expensive
emergency repair.
>>>> 08/24/09: Local cacher "natesdeal" saves cache
with his repairs. I will say the visiting cachers had done a good
job in making this cache last until such repair was needed. Good
job everyone and much appreciated!
PS: Check out this website for the happenings in this area:
I don't even live in St Louis... I'm hundreds and hundreds of
miles away! But this town needed some geo-action bad, so I took a
stand here and I work hard in ensuring the quality and durability
of these hides for your visit. All of CoolCache's St Louis hides
shown below:
Please write legibly but small on every line of the logs so I
can read your name. I have to do log verifications because of
geospammers.
Another CoolCache original hide.
