Geocache Description:

My first multi-cache, located in a city park spanning Hess Creek. The above coordinates will take you to the park sign. No bushwhacking required. Park hours are 7AM-10PM.

Hooverville Exit

Welcome to Newberg.

Herbert Hoover, the only US president to have lived in Oregon, called Newberg home during the late 1880's, and around town there are many references to our 31st president. The nearby stretch of highway 99W has been officially named the "Herbert Hoover Highway". The Hoover Academic Building at George Fox University houses the school's Kershner Library as well as the 160-seat Kershner Lecture Hall, classrooms, and faculty offices. The future president studied here when the university was known as Pacific Academy. At River & Second Streets stands the oldest home in town, the Hoover-Minthorn House, where young Herbert lived with his Uncle and Aunt. Across the street from the house is Hoover Park.

One of the reasons I'm placing this cache at Hoover Park is to prove that a cache can indeed have a long life here. The previous three caches to be placed here have had an average lifespan of about 8 days, so stealth is of the upmost importance. By the way, if you're into disc golf, there is an excellent course at the park.

The above coordinates will take you to the sign at Hoover Park. Angle parking is available closeby on River Street. If you're going to use the first clue, this would be a good time to do so, otherwise you'll have to walk back here.

TO DETERMINE CACHE LATITUDE:
From the Hoover Park sign, cross the street towards the Hoover-Minthorn House National Historic Site. Along the sidewalk is a white picket fence. The fourth fencepost from the northern end of the fence sits at the same latitude as that of the cache.

TO DETERMINE CACHE LONGITUDE:
From the Hoover Park sign, use your GPSr to find the nearest city. My Garmin eTrex Legend shows Wilsonville as the closest city. If your GPSr also shows Wilsonville as the nearest city, go there. It's not the Wilsonville located on Interstate 5, evidently there's a closer Wilsonville. If unable to search for nearest city, or your receiver shows Newberg or some other city as nearest, my GPSr shows this particular Wilsonville located at N45° 18.292' W122° 58.033'

This Wilsonville is surrounded by a track of red, and a chain link fence surrounds the track. A concrete path heads off in a southerly direction from near the northeast corner of the fence. Approximately 115 feet down the path is a post designed to keep vehicles from using the path. You can't miss it. The post is at the same longitude as the cache.

Cache is a 50 cal. metal ammo box. Best approach to the cache location is from a southerly direction.

WHEN REPLACING CACHE BE SURE TO CHECK FOR VISIBILITY FROM BOTH DIRECTIONS!
(I think that may be a hint)
