Not too difficult. Terrain rather steep. Ikke så vanskelig. Terrenget er ganske bratt. NB PLEASE PUT THE CACHE BACK BEHIND THE CONCRETE STONE!

Hågåsen (en bratt ås på vestsiden av øya - rett opp for Kirkehavn )var selve ørneredet for tyskerne på Hidra under okkupasjonen 1940-1945. Fortet ble av tyskerne kalt "Hitterøy" og tilhørte "Heeres Küsten-Artellerie". Det var 16 forlegningsbrakker med plass til ca. 100 mann og 32 andre brakker, mange maskingeværreder m.m. Hågåsen ble benyttet som rekreasjonssted for tyske militære som hadde deltatt i krigen på Østfronten. Hensikten med fortet var beskyttelse mot invasjon og å beskytte tyske båter i malmtrafikk mellom Narvik og Tyskland. Flere fly - både engelske og tyske ble skutt ned over Hidra under krigen. I de siste år er det gjort et stort arbeid med å gjøre Hågåsen tilgjengelig for publikum. Det er utgitt en brosjyre og en tilhørende CD - utgitt av Hågåskomitéen, et prosjekt i Hidra velforenings regi i samarbeidet med kystmuseet Fedrenes minne . Cachen er plassert i nærheten av offisersbrakkene. Følg vei til gården Auland i Kråkedalen. Deretter - følg anvisningsskilt.

Hågåsen (a steep hill on the western part of the island - straight above Kirkehavn) was an eagle's nest for the Germans on Hidra during the occupation 1940-45. The fortress was named Hitterøy and belonged to "Heeres Küsten-Artellerie". 16 quartering barracks could put up with about a hundred people, 32 other barracks, many machine gun positions etc. The fortress on this peaceful island was used as a recreation resort for soldiers that had participated at the Eastern Front in Russia. The purpose of the fortress was as protection for a possible Allied invasion and to protect German ships carrying iron ore between Narvik and Germany. A couple of warplanes - as well as German as British were shot down above Hidra during the war. (Remnants of these are still to be found in the hills). In the last years a huge effort has been done to make the fortress available to the public. A booklet has been published and a CD - published by the Hågåsen committeé - a project between Hidra's residents' association and the local coastal museum Fedrenes minne. The cache is placed in the vicinity of the officers barracks. Follow the dirt road to the farm Auland in Kråkedalen. Then - follow the guidance signboard

Hidra is situated in Flekkefjord municipality. A ferry boat is connecting the island to the mainland.The trip takes only 5-6 min. Approximately 600 people live on the island. In the summertime, however, the population increases greatly.		Hidra ligger i Flekkefjord kommune. Det er fergeforbindelse med fastlandet. Turen tar bare 5-6 min. Det bor rundt 600 mennesker på øya. Men om sommeren øker tallet til det mangedobbelte.
