Geocache Description:

The name Kiama is from the Aboriginal word meaning, "Where the sea makes noise", a reference to the famous Kiama Blowhole. The first recorded reference to the district, by European, George Bass who anchored his 28ft whaleboat in the sheltered bay, now known as Kiama Harbour. Cedar getters were the first to the area. Among these was David Smith who became the first European to permanently settle in the area where he built residence in 1832. In the 1870's dairying as an industry was supplemented by basalt (blue metal) quarrying, now one of the district's major income earners apart from dairying and tourism. The site of Kiama township was reserved by the Government in 1836. Kiama was declared a municipality in 1859.

Take a leisurely stroll through Kiama Township commencing at the Blowhole, taking in the the fine architectural heritage buildings, enjoying the scenery and collecting dates (YEARS). After a little bit of arithmetic a short drive will get you to GZ where a cache full of key rings awaits you.

Be warned the dates required are those available at each waypoint and should you look elsewhere you may not achieve the same result. A calculator could come in handy.
