Shovelman and I contemplated traversing from Angel Rocks to
Chena Hot Springs last fall, but did not have time to complete it.
Today's Angel Rocks Event Cache gave me the
opportunity to return and place a cache at this special place.
Many thanks to all the cachers who participated in the morning
event and the day-long traverse hike to the hot springs!
"Angel Rocks Shelter" is located within the
Chena River State Recreation Area. The shelter
may be accessed via a 5.0 mile trek from the Angel Rocks Trailhead
or a 3.5 mile trek from Chena Hot Springs. Some people like
to set up a car shuttle and hike from Angel Rocks, past Angel Rocks Cache to the resort (the route
is described here and maps are usually available at the
Angel Rocks trailhead), soak in the natural hot springs, and
then drive back to town.
